A workshop to mark the end of a 3-year project on African Weeds of Rice, called AFROweeds, was held from 24 to 26 September 2012 at AfricaRice, Benin. The project was funded by the European Union ACP Science, and Technology Program, and led by Seeraad and AfricaRice. It was carried out in close association with national partners. The main objective of the AFROweeds project was to improve the management of weeds, in West and East African lowland rice cropping systems, through the sharing of information, particularly relating to weed management practices, and the development of, weed identification tools.
